Tread Stone Replacement Kit: Installation and Signs of Wear

Quick answer

Replace your Tread stone when you see visible cracks, deep scoring, or uneven heating. The Tread Stone Replacement Kit includes everything you need for a straightforward swap.

Diagnosis: Is your Tread stone ready for replacement?

• Symptom: Visible crack wider than 1/8 inch (3 mm) or a chip that exposes the stone's interior layer. If the crack is hairline and doesn't affect heat distribution, you can continue using the stone.
• Likely cause: Thermal shock from placing cold food or liquid on a hot stone, or dropping the stone during cleaning. Always preheat gradually and avoid sudden temperature changes to extend stone life.
• Corrective action: Remove the old stone and install the Tread Stone Replacement Kit following the included instructions. Use the provided tools and gloves for safe handling. Ensure the new stone sits flat and level before your first use. Season it with a light oil wipe if desired.
• Stop or choose another option: If the oven frame or fireboard is also damaged, stop and contact Gozney support. The stone replacement kit only addresses the cooking surface.
